Coding
conventions: CONSISTENCY and CLARITY
Each of the previous layout and naming
conventions are suggestions. The most important thing to do when
you write computer programs is to make the program as easy to read and
understand as possible. This means that your choice of the conventions
you choose to follow should be guided by a desire to improve the clarity
of your program.
It is important to understand that
most major programming projects are a team effort. It is very important
that members of the team are able to understand each others' work. This
is most easily achieved if all team members follow the same conventions,
but if this is not possible each member should at least be consistent in
his or her own work.
