Introduction to unit 7 This is an important unit, since inheritance, and its implementation in Java via the extends, interface and abstract keywords is something that almost all non-trivial Java programs exploit. After working through this module you may wish to return to earlier units to examine the Java listings with a view to identifying the extent to which each embodies inheritance. Examples include the listings for the CircleSquare application you used in unit 1, and the development of the bouncing ball application in unit 2. The Deitel & Deitel book provides much reference material on Java's implementation of inheritance, and in the extension sesof this unit you are directed towards Sun's website for additional sources of reference.
