A complex Java program may have multiple threads of execution, that is, different parts of the program that appear to be executing at the same time. This is a sophisticated topic, which you should be ready to learn about by the time you complete this module.

For the discussion in this unit we will consider only simple Java programs which do not have multiple threads.
